About the Show
In the 80s, I used to go to a Youth Club in Peckham called Bradfields, where I met someone who became a good friend. In the late 80’s I started to go to house parties with him. He showed me where he bought his records, J Records and Red Records, just off Rye Lane Peckham. After buying records for a while, I started to look for more of the Bob Marley style of music. After speaking to Junior at J Records, he advised me to go to Movement Records, which Carl, a Rastafarian, ran. Carl told me about a Jah Shaka dance, so I gave it a try, and 30-odd years later, after following Jah Shaka’s sound up and down the country. I then started to follow other sound systems, Channel One, Jah Tubby’s and Aba Shanti. Thanks to Stevie P, Carl, and Mikey Dead, this is where I got my love for roots rock reggae music.
